Men's Ministry Newsletter 2008

Mission Statement
The mission of the Men's Ministry is to provide men at GCC with opportunities for service to the community, personal and spiritual growth and fellowship among its members.  By drawing upon the collective experience, diversity and enthusiasm of the membership, the Men's Ministry will sponsor appropriate initiatives that serve our church and community, strengthen intergenerational ties within our congregation and foster a deeper commitment to our faith through personal discovery and fellowship.

Meetings
The Men’s Ministry holds three to four meeting per year with guest speakers that present a variety of topics including; men and the church, family and home, men and work, service and missions, men’s health, and spiritual issues.  Meetings will vary in time, format, type and location.  For example:   evening meetings (some for men only and some open to all) or a Saturday morning breakfast.

Youth Services Glenview/Northbrook Seeking Volunteers
Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook continues to look for volunteers to help in a variety of ways with their ongoing program. If you would like to volunteer or learn more about these programs, please contact Heather Smith at 847-724-2620.

Rally Day Service Project
Last year the Men’s Ministry purchased and grilled hot dogs and hamburgers at the Rally Day festivities.  We plan a similar project for this year’s Rally Day scheduled for September 7, 2008.

Fellowship
Throughout the year the Men’s Ministry provides opportunities for fellowship from informal conversations during and after scheduled meetings to planned events such as enjoying a casual dinner after serving a meal at the Good News Kitchen.  Future events could include an outing to a baseball game or other sporting event.

Men's Informational Survey
All men are encouraged to complete the Men's Informational Survey available for downloading from the GCC website.  The purpose of the survey is to gather information that will help create a program that is responsive to the interests and needs of the men of Glenview Community Church and consistent with the Men's Ministry Mission Statement.

Additional copies of the Survey are available in the church office.

Note:  All completed copies should be returned to the church office.
