Reasons To Be Generous |
||
Being generous is one of life’s great privileges. Generosity includes: Giving money, giving time and talent, being hospitable, giving people the benefit of the doubt, practicing forgiveness, and manifesting personal traits that characterize religious values and teachings Fulfill God’s destiny and accomplish God’s design for this world by using all the resources at our command, both in our individual lives and in our congregation, to become more generous people. Members must understand that the annual pledge drive is a ministry. A means by which the congregation can most frequently and consistently articulate the aspects of charitable giving that enhance their spiritual lives People who are charitably inclined derive great satisfaction from giving If a congregation sets hope, dreams, and goals for the future, parishioners will be inspired to give toward what the church wants to accomplish. New comers will indeed do little and give little if these are the expectations and a reflection of the congregational culture. Stewardship and Membership need to work closely together. Newcomers are more amenable to new ideas and views when they join than at any other time. Increasing your charitable giving should change your life in some way. Doing the right thing is more important than money; it will make you feel as good as or better than hitting all the rest of your financial targets. Move away from funding the budget and toward creating a climate of increased generosity where we use all the resources at our command to strengthen our religious faith and make the world a better place. Sharing what we have is how we accomplish what God calls us to do in this time and place.
