It is the time of year we are given the opportunity to reevaluate our commitment to serve God in a tangible way. Pledging is a sign of our love of God and our church, an expression of our faith. Charitable giving in a religious context is not merely a financial matter; it is an emotional and spiritual commitment that helps define our relationship with God over the course of our lives. Sharing what we have is how we accomplish what God calls us to do in this time and place.

Our Duties, as outlined in our Church Constitution, are: “Members are expected to be faithful and continually grow their role in fulfilling the Covenant of Glenview Community Church: Each member should: regularly attend church worship services, financially support the church and its benevolences, contribute their time and talents to the Church’s organized work, diligently seek spiritual and general welfare for themselves and all members, and ever increasingly attempt to live a Christian Life.”

Our Leadership has a vision for growth and renewal and is asking everyone to fully EMBRACE THE VISION AND LIVE THE MISSION - an outline of this Vision and Mission Statement is on the back of this letter. The goal of the Stewardship Board is to assist our congregation in Achieving Financial Stability. A financial plan has been developed to support the ministry and missions of our church. In order to implement this plan and accomplish this goal, we ask that you consider increasing your
2011 Pledge Commitment by at least 10%.

Pledging is Critical to the Mission work of our church. The Missions Budget equals 10% of monies pledged and received. Money raised outside of pledging such as donations or loose offerings is not directed toward the Church Mission Programs. Thus Pledging is essential to expand the GCC Mission Outreach.

Budgets and Mission Expenditures are based upon your Pledge. The Finance Board creates each year’s budget on anticipated revenues. Since 78% of our revenues are from pledge income, we are asking that you submit your pledge prior to October 31, 2010 in order to accurately plan our 2012 budget.

Stewardship is not separate from the ongoing life of the congregation; it mirrors congregational life as a whole. Pledging is a personal and collaborative effort to strengthen our church ministry. Individually and collectively we can do great things. Let us pray, pledge and work together. Pledge not just to help our church survive, pledge to make it flourish.
