Pastoral Residency Program

The Glenview Community Church Pastoral Residency Program began in August 2023. The mission of the Pastoral Residency Program is to provide a unique two-year first-call experience in which a recent seminary graduate can practice and cultivate the art of pastoral ministry in a vibrant congregation. While the resident has been prepared for ministry by their seminary education, they benefit in their pastoral development from serving in a local church. Our goal is to enable the new clergyperson to build skills and practices, both professional and personal, that will provide a foundation for fruitful and faithful service to the Church. As a full-time pastor, our pastoral resident participates in all aspects of congregational life. The resident will have multiple experiences of pastoral leadership: worship, faith formation, pastoral care, leadership, mission/justice, and professional development. The resident has the experience of both stepping into existing ministries and forming new ones.

After their two-year residency, the resident will be able to answer a call as a settled pastor having gained significant experience and skills. We look forward to the fresh ideas that future pastoral residents bring to our church and hope that they take a part of Glenview Community Church with them wherever they serve after their departure.
